Findings of CIDC

The rapid situation assessment in five Dzongkhags (Thimphu, Paro, Mongar, Zhemgang and Chhukha)(urban areas) identified a total of 412 potential CIDC under 18 years of age. Results of the quantitative survey showed of the 412 potential CIDC interviewed 215 are girls and 197 are boys. Thimphu with 189 children recorded the highest number of children while 75 children are assessed from Zhemgang, 64 from Paro, 62 from Monggar and Chhukha with the least (22 children).

The assessment observes that 88.3% of the children need some kind of help. More than half (53.9%) reported help in education, while 23.8% needed clothing and 18.7% wanted shelter. Some 59 children reported that they know about other children who are facing similar situations.
